Joe Maxi is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it — in plain English, not legal jargon. We comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Joe Maxi is a UK-based taxi booking platform that connects passengers with licensed local taxi drivers. Our registered business address and contact details are available via our contact page. When we refer to "Joe Maxi", "we", "us" or "our" in this policy, we mean the Joe Maxi platform and its operators.
We collect information you provide directly when you register or use our platform:
**Passengers:** Name, email address, phone number, home/billing address, booking history (pickup and destination addresses, dates, times), and payment method details (processed securely — we do not store full card numbers).
**Drivers:** Name, email address, phone number, home address, driving licence details, vehicle registration and details, insurance information, DBS/background check references, payment card details (processed securely via Stripe — we do not store full card numbers), and booking/earnings history.
**All users:** Device information, IP address, browser type, pages visited, and cookies (see Section 7).
We use your personal data to:
• Create and manage your account
• Process bookings and match passengers with drivers

Under UK GDPR, we process your data on the following legal bases:
• Contract performance: Processing necessary to provide the booking service you've signed up for
• Legitimate interests: Improving our platform, preventing fraud, and ensuring platform safety
• Legal obligation: Complying with UK law including licensing, tax, and anti-money laundering requirements
• Consent: Where we ask for your explicit consent (e.g. marketing emails) — you can withdraw this at any time
We share your data only where necessary:
• Drivers and passengers: When a booking is made, relevant contact and booking details are shared between the passenger and driver to facilitate the journey
• Stripe: Our payment processor for driver subscriptions — governed by their own privacy policy
• Email service providers: To send transactional and notification emails
• Regulatory authorities: Where required by law (e.g. DVLA, HMRC, police)
• We do not sell your personal data to third parties:
We retain your data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to comply with legal obligations. Booking records are retained for 7 years for tax and legal purposes. You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time (subject to legal retention requirements) by contacting us.
We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and make the platform work. We may also use analytics cookies to understand how people use Joe Maxi so we can improve it. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings. A cookie consent notice is displayed on your first visit.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify registered users by email. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. Continued use of Joe Maxi after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
