About Arklow
- Arklow has been a centre of boat-building since at least the medieval period, and the town's maritime heritage is celebrated in the Arklow Maritime Museum. The Arklow Shipping company, which was founded in the nineteenth century, grew to become one of the largest coastal shipping companies in Ireland and Britain, and its distinctive green-hulled vessels were a familiar sight in ports around the Irish Sea for over a century.
