- The Royal Navy Submarine Museum at Gosport is the only museum in Britain dedicated to the history of submarine warfare — a collection that includes HMS Alliance, the last surviving Second World War-era British submarine, which visitors can board and explore. The museum tells the story of British submarine operations from the earliest experimental vessels of the late 19th century to the nuclear submarines of the Cold War, and it preserves an extraordinary collection of equipment, personal testimonies, and archival material that documents one of the most dangerous and demanding forms of naval service. The submarine service, which operates from bases at Gosport and Faslane, has played a central role in British naval strategy since the First World War.
