About Sighthill
- Sighthill was developed as a post-war housing estate in the 1950s and 1960s, with high-rise tower blocks that became a defining feature of the Edinburgh skyline. The regeneration programme that began in the 2010s has seen these tower blocks demolished and replaced with a new mixed-tenure neighbourhood designed to create a more sustainable and integrated community.
- Edinburgh Park, adjacent to Sighthill, is one of the largest business parks in Scotland and home to major employers in financial services, technology, and professional services. The park was designed by Richard Meier and opened in the 1990s, and its distinctive modernist architecture has made it a landmark of Edinburgh's commercial landscape.
- The Union Canal, which passes through the southern edge of Sighthill, was opened in 1822 to carry coal from the Lanarkshire coalfields to Edinburgh. The canal fell into disuse after the arrival of the railways but was restored in the early 2000s and is now a popular leisure route for walkers, cyclists, and narrowboat enthusiasts.
