About Altens
- Altens is one of the most important business districts in the North Sea oil and gas industry, housing the offices and operational bases of numerous energy companies, engineering contractors, and service providers. The district developed rapidly from the 1970s onwards as Aberdeen became the hub of the North Sea oil industry, and it continues to be a centre of activity for the energy transition — with many companies in the area now working on offshore wind, carbon capture, and hydrogen projects alongside their traditional oil and gas operations. The proximity of Nigg Bay, where the River Dee meets the North Sea, gives the area a coastal character that contrasts with its industrial function.
