About Baltasound
- Hermaness National Nature Reserve, at the northern tip of Unst, is one of the most important seabird colonies in Britain, with large populations of puffins, gannets, great skuas, and other seabirds nesting on the dramatic coastal cliffs. The reserve is also the location of Muckle Flugga — a small rocky island with a lighthouse that is the most northerly point of the British Isles — and the Out Stack, a bare rock beyond Muckle Flugga that is the most northerly point of Great Britain. The combination of the dramatic coastal scenery, the wildlife, and the sense of being at the very edge of the British Isles makes Hermaness one of the most remarkable natural heritage sites in the country.
