Sand dune nature reserve and family beach resort at the mouth of the Exe estuary

Dawlish Warren is a small seaside resort and national nature reserve at the mouth of the Exe estuary in South Devon, situated on a sand spit that extends into the estuary opposite Exmouth. The Warren is one of the most important wildlife sites in the South West, with extensive sand dunes, saltmarsh, and mudflats that support nationally rare plants and large numbers of wading birds and wildfowl. The resort has a sandy beach, amusement arcades, and a holiday park, making it a popular family destination. The area is also excellent for birdwatching, particularly in autumn and winter when large numbers of waders and wildfowl gather on the estuary.
