About Elie
- The Elie Chain Walk is a coastal scramble along the rocky shoreline west of the village, using a series of fixed chains bolted into the rock face to help walkers navigate the most difficult sections. The route takes around two hours and requires a head for heights, but rewards walkers with spectacular views across the Forth. It is one of the most unusual and exhilarating walks in Scotland.

- Ruby Bay, to the east of Elie, takes its name from the garnets that can occasionally be found in the sand and rock pools. The garnets are washed out of the local sandstone by wave action and can be found as small red stones among the pebbles on the beach.
- Elie was a popular seaside resort for Edinburgh families in the Victorian and Edwardian eras, when the railway made it accessible for day trips and holidays.
