About Jedburgh
- Jedburgh Abbey, founded by King David I in 1138 for Augustinian canons from Beauvais in France, is the best-preserved of the four great Borders abbeys. The house where she stayed, now the Mary Queen of Scots Visitor Centre, displays a lock of her hair and a death mask, and the story of her visit is one of the most dramatic episodes in Borders history.
