Taxis in Kincardine— Licensed Local Taxis & Private Hire
A Forth-side Fife town at the gateway to Clackmannanshire, with a swing bridge and a proud industrial past.
Kincardine is a small town on the southern shore of Fife, sitting on the Firth of Forth at the point where the river narrows enough to be bridged. The Kincardine Bridge, opened in 1936, was for many years the lowest crossing point of the Forth and carried the main road between Fife and central Scotland. The town has a long history as a port and a centre of salt panning and coal shipping, and the Longannet Power Station, which dominated the skyline for decades, stood just across the river in Clackmannanshire. Joe Maxi Taxis serves Kincardine with airport transfers and journeys across Fife and Edinburgh. For larger groups, our trusted partner network can help with minibus hire in Kincardine.

About Kincardine
- The Kincardine Bridge, opened in 1936, was the first road bridge across the Forth below Stirling and for many years was the lowest crossing point of the river. The bridge has a central swing section that was designed to allow tall ships to pass through, although it has not been opened for shipping since the 1980s. A second bridge, the Clackmannanshire Bridge, was opened nearby in 2008.
- Kincardine was an important centre of salt panning from the medieval period until the nineteenth century, using coal from the local collieries to evaporate seawater in large iron pans. The salt was exported from Kincardine Harbour to markets across Scotland and northern Europe.
- Tulliallan Castle, which stands in parkland above Kincardine, is now the Scottish Police College, providing training for police officers from across Scotland. The castle was built in the early nineteenth century in a Gothic Revival style and is one of the most impressive buildings in west Fife.
- The Longannet Power Station, which stood on the Clackmannanshire shore opposite Kincardine, was the largest coal-fired power station in Europe when it opened in 1970. It was closed in 2016 and its three cooling towers were demolished in 2021, dramatically changing the skyline that had defined the area for half a century.
