About Torryburn
- Torryburn was the scene of one of the last witch trials in Scotland in 1704, when Lilias Adie, a local woman, was accused of witchcraft and consorting with the devil. She died in prison before she could be executed, and was buried on the foreshore below the village to prevent her spirit from rising. Her grave was disturbed in the nineteenth century and her skull was removed, eventually ending up in a museum collection.

The town is managed by the National Trust for Scotland and has been used as a filming location for the television series Outlander.
