About Liberton
- Liberton Tower, a fifteenth-century tower house that still stands in the neighbourhood, is one of the oldest surviving structures in the Edinburgh area. The tower was built by the Dalmahoy family and later passed to the Littles of Liberton, one of Edinburgh's prominent merchant families. It has been carefully restored and is now available as a unique holiday let.
- The Braid Hills, which form the southern boundary of Liberton, offer some of the finest views over Edinburgh and the Firth of Forth. The hills are managed as a public park and contain two municipal golf courses that have been in operation since the 1890s, making them among the oldest public golf facilities in Scotland.
- Liberton Kirk, which dates in its current form from 1815 but stands on a site of Christian worship going back to the twelfth century, contains a remarkable collection of historic grave markers and memorials. The churchyard includes the grave of William Brodie, a deacon of the Edinburgh Incorporation of Wrights who led a double life as a burglar and is said to have inspired Robert Louis Stevenson's character of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
