About Reeth
- Reeth's village green is one of the largest in England, a broad expanse of grass surrounded by stone-built houses, pubs, and shops. The green is the focal point of village life and hosts the annual Reeth Show, one of the most popular agricultural shows in the Yorkshire Dales, held every August Bank Holiday.
- The Swaledale Museum, housed in a former Methodist Sunday school on the village green, tells the story of life in upper Swaledale from prehistoric times to the present day. The museum has collections covering the lead mining industry that once dominated the dale, as well as farming, domestic life, and the natural history of the area.
- Swaledale is one of the most beautiful of the Yorkshire Dales, with a dramatic landscape of limestone scars, hay meadows, and drystone walls. The dale is famous for its Swaledale sheep, a hardy breed that has grazed the moorland for centuries and whose fleece is used to make traditional Yorkshire wool.
- Arkengarthdale, which branches off from Swaledale just above Reeth, is one of the most remote and unspoiled valleys in the Yorkshire Dales. The dale has a strong lead mining heritage, and the remains of smelt mills and mine workings can be seen throughout the valley.
